The Beta Switch by fitness expert Sue Heintze is a legit weight loss program for women worth checking out. The first time I came across the program, I had thought the science behind it was too fantastic to be true. But I took time to study it more carefully and now I’m convinced that this program has good potential and you should give it a try.
Created in 2014, The Beta Switch is a 12-week program that promises to reveal to women the reason why they keep on piling excess fat in the thighs, bum and arms. Heintze says that this unpleasant phenomenon is caused by the fact that the fat-burning receptors in your body are either not functioning properly or completely switched off, thereby making it hard for you to lose weight. Heintze claims that many women have used the methods in The Beta Switch to win figure competitions in Australia … and they didn’t have to give up their favorite foods to do it.
Of course, I’ll go into details later in the review but first of all, let’s find out who the author is, shall we?
Who is Sue Heintze?

Sue Heintze is an Australian health and fitness expert and multiple-time bodybuilding champion. On her website, she didn’t really tell us her academic qualifications. But she shares a personal story of how she struggled with ‘two decades of obsessive compulsive eating disorders and negative body image,’ which led her to crash diet and exercise excessively. This routine, according to her, enabled her to win figure competitions, but ‘I never lost the stubborn fat on my bum, thighs and the backs of my legs that I’d been ashamed of ever since I was 18 years old.’
It wasn’t until ‘one Monday morning in 2005’ that she stumbled upon a reference that explained everything … and that enabled her to earn ‘the easiest figure competition victory of my career’ – at 40 years old.
Sue now owns and operates IdealBodiesOnline.com, a weight loss platform designed specifically for women. She has also been featured on national television and has contributed to Australian Oxygen Magazine, Australian Women’s Health & Fitness magazine and Shape Magazine.
Watch this short video of her getting interviewed below.
Bottom Line: Sue Heintze is real and qualified to give advice on fitness and nutrition.
Basis of The Beta Switch
The science behind The Beta Switch is technical so I won’t bore you with too much scientific language. So let me simplify.
The body has receptors that make use of adrenaline (the fight-or-flight hormone). These receptors are called Adrenoreceptors (adrenaline receptors). They are of two types: The Alpha Receptors and Beta receptors. The Alpha receptors are further divided into Alpha 1 and 2, while the Beta receptors are subdivided into Beta 1, 2 and 3. These receptors, when activated by adrenaline or its sister hormone noradrenaline, have different effects on the body systems.
Now according to Sue, activation of Beta receptors BURN fat, while activation of Alpha Receptors STORE fat. Now both men and women have the two receptors but according to Sue, women have 9 times more Alpha Receptors than men. That’s the supposed reason why women store fat faster and struggle harder than men to shed the excess fat in their normal fat storing areas (butt, thighs, upper arms). The Beta Switch is all about enabling women to keep their few Beta receptors ‘switched on’ so that they can burn fat more effectively without having to indulge in extreme dieting and excessive exercise.
Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I was highly skeptic when I first saw this information. This is because I know about these receptors and their functions (one of them production of heat), but I never associated them with weight loss. So I did some more studying and came across this research finding published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry. This study, conducted on mice, discovered that mice without Beta receptors became massively obese when fed with high calorie food, but those with the receptors didn’t gain much weight. If not for anything, this study proves that Beta receptors definitely have something to do with weight loss. This gave me the confidence to conclude that The Beta Switch is on the right track.
Who is The Beta Switch Suitable For?
The Beta Switch is designed specifically for women. Sue says her program ‘works for ANY woman – no matter your age, and regardless of where you store your most stubborn fat.’
If you’re a man, don’t worry. There are other gender-independent weight loss programs in my Whitelist so go check them out and see what fits your condition. For example, The Half Day Diet by Nate Miyaki is a good option.

Pros
- Author is real and qualified to offer fitness services
- No scammy advertising.
- Discourages crash dieting and excessive exercise. You can still eat your favorite foods with this program.
- Calls the myth of Spot Reduction (targeted weight loss) a ‘scam’ and a ‘hoax’ (I like this one – shows that the author knows exactly what she’s writing about)
- The program is based on a solid scientific foundation.
- Cheap price.
- Testimonials are not stock or stolen photos.
- Presence of a moneyback guarantee.
Cons
- Complex Information. Sue did her best to simplify the information she wanted to share, but let’s face it … not everyone understands the ‘alpha and beta’ language. But at least she got the message across in the end so does it matter?
- Pop-ups. Rather than letting you go in peace if you’re not interested in the program, The Beta Switch’s website uses a pop up to block you from leaving before offering you a 3-day free trial. Not a nice marketing move, considering the fact that this is a typical tactic used by scammers.
Final Conclusion: YES, TRY The Beta Switch!
