However, we’re not told the names of any of these herbs. Instead, on the ingredients page and the product’s label (right), we’re informed that Hypercet Blood Pressure Formula contains:
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Malic acid
- Citric acid
- Glycine
There are two problems with this ingredients list. First, none of them are herbs. Second, calcium supplementation for people with hypertension is not generally recommended, except if the patient in question is calcium-deficient [NCBI]. In fact, one of the methods of hypertension treatment is the use of calcium channel blockers (CCBs), which work by preventing calcium from entering the heart muscle and blood vessels.
